Michael J. Mirro, M.D.

Dr. Michael Mirro joined Fort Wayne Cardiology in 1981, coming from the University of Iowa, where he established a cardiac electrophysiology program. Dr. Mirro specializes in the field of cardiac electrophysiology and clinical research.


Career highlights

  • Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians.
  • Founding board member of the Midwest Alliance for Health Education.
  • Founder and medical director of Parkview Research Center
  • Recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash Award and the Distinguished Hoosier Award.

Education

  • Earned board certification in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, cardiac electrophysiology, and geriatrics.
  • Earned an accelerated bachelor’s degree from Loyola University, Chicago.
  • Received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine.
  • Presented with an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Indiana University in 2004.
  • Completed internship and residency in internal medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine.
  • Completed clinical cardiology fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine.
  • Completed cardiac electrophysiology research fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine.
  • Served as assistant professor of medicine at the University of Iowa and as assistant clinical professor of medicine at Indiana University.
